Brian DeMaris and David Lefkowitch, directors. The Amani Singers, guest artists. The opera explores the relationship between Thomas Jefferson and his slave mistress, Sally Hemings, within the social and political structures and strictures of the time. It also raises many issues that still resonate—quite dramatically—today. Grad student Cherisse Williams will sing the role of Sally and alum Zachary James will sing the role of Jefferson.
This is an opportunity for discussion of the opera "The Wolf by the Ears, the historical and social themes contained in the production, how these themes relate to our world today, and the audience's reception of Ithaca College's production.
