"Don't foul your nest: Local food systems as a remedy to pharmaceutical use in agriculture"

Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00pm

Textor Hall, 102 Ithaca College

In the third installment of the 2014 Global Speaker Series titled "From Pharm to Farm: Antibiotic Resistance in a Global Economy," Donn Hewes and Maryrose Livingston offer their perspective on this emerging public health threat.

Hewes and Livingston operate the 100% grass-fed, horse powered Northland Sheep Dairy in Marathon, NY. Livingston is President of the Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York, and Hewes is the President of the Draft Animal Power Network. They both have experience working on conventional cow dairy farms. They have a deep commitment to sustainable farming, both as practitioners and educators.

This is part three of a four-part Global Health Speaker Series featuring critical examinations by leading experts and advocates. The Global Health Speaker Series is sponsored by the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, the Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival, the Hammond Health Center, and the Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences.
