Each year our new faculty members come together for an orientation session designed to provide the essential information needed for a successful first semester.
New faculty are invited to join us at 8:15 a.m. for coffee and informal interaction with their new colleagues. The formal program will begin at 8:45 a.m. and continue through a series of interactive sessions. A luncheon
with the Deans will conclude the orientation.
To assist planning this orientation and luncheon, new faculty should take a moment to RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org or (607) 274-3734. Request for special needs should be included in the RSVP.
This year’s new faculty orientation program will continue through the fall semester. All new faculty are expected to attend a series of workshops, to be held on the following Thursdays, scheduled for the 12:10 - 1:00 p.m. period during which no classes are held. Dates and topics for these workshops are:
September 18 - Integrative Core Curriculum: A New Faculty Member’s Guide
October 02 - Faculty Involvement with Student Life
October 30 - Diversity, Research, Interdisciplinary Inquiry, and Technology-Enhanced Learning at IC
November 13 - Pathways Training
Details regarding presenters and locations will be provided at the August 20 orientation.
In addition to the program for new faculty, Ithaca College also provides ongoing opportunities for faculty learning and professional growth, coordinated by the Center for Faculty Excellence. All faculty are encouraged to attend these sessions, which will be announced on the Center’s website (www.ithaca.edu/cfe) as well as posted in the “News for Faculty” section of Intercom, IC’s online newsletter.
