Trombone recital and master class with Megan Boutin ‘07

Introduction and Musical Presentation by Ms. Boutin

Megan grew up in Maine where she began playing trombone at the age of 10. After receiving her bachelor's degree in music education from Ithaca College in 2007 she taught both general music and band at Candor Elementary School in Candor, New York. In 2010 she earned a Masters of Music degree in Trombone Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music.

While in New York Megan taught for both the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester as a teaching assistant providing classroom instruction and private lessons. She has also given masterclasses at Ithaca College, been a guest artist at the University of New Hampshire Summer Youth Music School, and been featured as part of the Eastman at Washington Square Concert Series.

Megan has performed with a variety of ensembles including brass quintets, many trombone ensembles from small to large, brass choirs, wind ensembles, orchestras, ensembles for stage productions, new music groups, and jazz bands. Megan is a private lesson teacher in Austin,Texas. She is the principal trombonist with the Austin Civic Orchestra, is a member of the Central Texas Civic Trombone Choir and the Vagabones Trombone Quintet, and also performs with several local Austin bands.
