Women Leaders Series: Using Crafts to MAKE the World a Better Place (LDW)
In this session you will learn about the traditions of creative resistance, specifically how quilters have used their skills to address particular causes in the past, and how contemporary quilters are using craftivism for consciousness-raising, anti-consumerism, ethical production, and aiding the disadvantaged. You will get to make your own hexie quilt patch (no experience required!), and learn how to apply your creativity toward making a difference, one person at a time. If you are looking for a way to voice your opinions and support your causes at your own pace, without chanting or banner waving at a mass protest, this is the session for you! Presented by Sam Stafford and Omega Hollies, RES Life and IDEAS.
