Advising 101
Presented by the Academic Support Center in collaboration with the Center for Faculty Excellence
Advising plays a vital role in supporting student success at Ithaca College. This session is designed for faculty who are new to advising responsibilities, as well as those who would like a refresher. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the advising process, including how to guide students through course registration and how to effectively use DegreeWorks to review degree progress. The workshop will cover key requirements, such as the Ithaca College Integrative Core Curriculum (ICC) and course attributes, that advisors need to understand when helping students plan their academic pathways.
In addition, attendees will be introduced to the Academic Concerns and Student Success Dashboard, an important resource for tracking and supporting student progress. By the end of this workshop, participants will leave with the tools and contacts needed to begin advising with confidence, and a better understanding of how advising contributes to student success at Ithaca College. A Zoom recording will be available after the workshop.
