Exploring Opportunities for Advancing Sustainability Through Athletics (Leading Others)

Wednesday, February 28, 2024 2:00pm to 3:00pm EST

Collegiate sports are a huge part of our country's culture. Sporting events draw in mass amounts of people and therefore are energy intensive and create a lot of waste. The programs themselves often have large ecological footprints as well, whether it's through the constant repurchasing of sports equipment or the greenhouse gasses emitted while traveling to games and practices. However, as people are continuing to become more and more aware of the impact they have on our environment, the opportunity to lessen these impacts grows. At Ithaca College, we especially have this opportunity as our school has been recognized for its sustainability efforts, showing we have the willingness to try.
