DESCRIPTION:Guest Recital: Splinter Reeds | Ithaca Collège School of Music
 \, Theater and Dance | \n\n \n\nSplinter Reeds is the West Coast's first r
eed quintet\, comprising five innovative musicians with a shared passion f
or new music. The ensemble is committed to presenting top tier performance
s of today’s best contemporary composition\, showcasing the vast possibi
lities of the reed quintet\, commissioning new works\, and collaborating w
ith fellow musicians and artists.\n\nAs a relatively new chamber music gen
re\, the reed quintet is an evolutionary detour from the traditional woodw
ind quintet with the advantages of a more closely related instrument famil
 y. Distinguishing themselves amongst even the relatively small number of p
rofessional reed quintets currently active worldwide\, the ensemble is exp
licitly dedicated to cutting-edge composition and expanding the existing r
eed quintet repertoire through the collaborative development of new works
 by emerging and established composers.\n\n \n\nThursday\, 10/3/2024 8:15pm
