Snacks and Networking with Intercultural Career Connections Panel (ICCP)

Following the Intercultural Career Connection Panel (ICCP) from 12 PM - 1 PM, join us for snacks and networking with the panel participants at 1 PM.

First time attending a networking event? Feeling a little nervous and don't know how to start a conversation? No worries! We will provide you with sample questions to help get your discussions going. Networking take practice, and remember, these alumni were in the same position as you when they were IC students! They understand we all have different levels of comfort and experience.

This event is a collaboration between the Center for Career Exploration and Development (formerly the Office of Career Services), the Center for IDEAS, and the Office of Access, Opportunity, and Achievement.

Alumni participants include:

Heather Crespin '16

Heather (they/them) brings their experience of program coordination, mentorship, project management, and DEIB training to the team at INP. Heather joined the Institute for Nonprofit Practice after working at Cornell University for six years: they spent five years in their most recent role as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator for the Department of Communication. While at Cornell, Heather co-founded a peer mentorship program to connect historically-marginalized and first-generation students with older peers, to help these students establish a social support system during their first semester at college. Heather is passionate about community building, mental health, and artistic expression of all varieties. Heather is bilingual in English and Spanish, and is currently learning Brazilian Portuguese. They are a “foodie,” and can often be found cooking, baking, and enjoying food with others in their free time; in particular, they love connecting with their Mexican-American roots by recreating the family recipes they grew up eating. Heather also enjoys performing on stage, meditating, traveling, watching movies, snuggling with their rescue dog Zelda Sayre, reading, and spending time outside enjoying nature. Heather received their Bachelor of Arts in Culture and Communication from Ithaca College, where they studied Spanish, social justice theory, and performance art.

Jhonny Perez '18

After completing high school, Jhonny was admitted into the Higher Educational Opportunity Program (HEOP) at Ithaca College. During his time at IC, Jhonny played for Bombers Baseball for two seasons and was active in the Office of State Grants (now Office of Access, Opportunity, and Achievement). Continuing his passion for PD, Jhonny was eager to serve as a Peer Career Advisor in the Office of Career Services (now Center for Career Exploration and Development) for his two final two years at IC. Jhonny took advantage of all that IC had to offer, including networking opportunities, an internship at the New York Red Bulls, studying abroad in Dublin, and completion of an IC-NYC semester. Upon graduation from IC, Jhonny joined Convene, a company that supported his career aspirations, and more importantly, the values with which he aligned. After the pandemic, Jhonny was looking to make more of an impact in his everyday work. In his work at his high school alma mater, Jhonny not only connects young men to opportunities at Salisbury School, he also coaches the basketball and baseball teams, serves as a dorm parent, and collaborates with Salisbury’s DEI office. Jhonny values this ability to change the lives of many students and their families from around the nation and globally.
