MLK Celebration Week: Forms of Protest During Vietnam and Today (Leading in a Diverse World)

Protest movements such as the Black Lives Matter Movement can be traced back to prominent movements such as the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements. We’ll discuss the various forms that protests manifested in during these historical movements and see how they’ve transformed today. We’ll look at how these movements began and analyze why these fights for humanity are still ongoing. From Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Malcolm X, and Ella Baker to Dr. Cornel West and Alicia Garza; From Richie Havens and Jimi Hendrix to Hip Hop and Rap; From Vietnam to Today.
