About this Event
Dr. Christin Schillinger, hailed as a “soloist, teacher, and force of nature” by The Double Reed, is celebrated for her mastery of the avant-garde and her dedication to expanding the audience for contemporary music and the bassoon. Praised for her “life and inspiration” (American Record Guide) and her “total mastery” of the bassoon (Fanfare), Schillinger is also a committed researcher and advocate for women in music. She founded the fEMPOWER platform for female bassoonists and co-founded the LIMITLESS Collective, an all-female chamber ensemble.
A faculty member at Ithaca College, Schillinger leads “Ithaca Bassooniversity” and has collaborated with numerous composers to premiere new works. She has released several solo albums, including Bassoon Unbounded (2018), and authored a highly respected book on bassoon reed-making.
Co-sponsored by New York Women Composers and in collaboration with other faculty members, this recital promises an evening of exquisite music and artistry. We hope to see you there!
