About this Event
JED is excited to introduce our first temporary Sensory Space, in Campus Center, during Stop and Breathe Week. A sensory room is a great way to improve wellness by using gentle, positive multi-sensory stimulation. This type of environment helps with stress reduction, mindfulness, and an overall feeling of calm. It is important to take a break because it allows the mind and body to de-stress, re-focus, and re-group. Even if it is just for a few minutes in between classes or meetings.
Many members of our campus community experience sensory challenges often associated with autism, ADHD, anxiety, and PTSD. A room, such as this quiet space, will give neurodivergent students a place to step away from sensory overload. The hope is that offering a space like this, during one of the most stressful times on campus, will give everyone that moment they need to continue their day feeling more calm and ready to take on the week.
