About this Event
We are excited to announce a visit by Nizar Farsakh, Chair of the Board of the Museum of the Palestinian People, and Uriel Abulof from Tel-Aviv University’s School of Political Science, Government, and International Affairs. This innovative lecture is back by popular demand, after the 2019 lecture which was regarded as crucial to expanding a challenging conversation on campus. Farsakh and Abulof will be visiting Ithaca College to share their understanding of the origins and current state of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a joint conversation on November 2 from 7:30 to 9 PM in Muller Chapel. Hillel will be calling this program, which will offer multiple historical narratives to participants, “Side by Side”. Farsakh has worked for two years with the Project on Middle East Democracy and has served as the General Director of the PLO Delegation in Washington, DC. Starting fall 2019, Abulof is an Israel Institute Visiting Professor at Cornell’s Department of Government. Abulof studies the politics of fear, happiness and hope, legitimation, social movements, existentialism, nationalism, and ethnic conflicts. We recognize that there are so many things pulling students in all different directions, but we truly believe that this innovative program models an aspirational approach to one of the most divisive issues today. The speakers model an ideal approach to building a greater understanding of the humanity behind the conflict.
