Event Announcement

South Hill Entertainment to host ‘Strong Bodies & Minds: An Athlete’s Journey with Mental Health’

South Hill Entertainment will be hosting ‘Strong Bodies & Minds: An Athlete’s Journey with Mental Health’ in Emerson Suites on Ithaca College’s campus on February 21, 2023 at 8 p.m. The event will include speakers Blaze Riorden, Katie Lever, Connor Buczek and moderated by Cornell University’s Director of Sports Leadership and Mental Conditioning, Greg Shelley. Expected attendance for the event is 250.

Who: ‘Strong Bodies & Minds: An Athletes Journey with Mental Health’ live speaker panel.

What: A first of its kind speaking engagement. The event will be an opportunity for collegiate, high school, and youth athletes to learn from the experiences of successful collegiate and professional athletes and scholars. The event will be recorded and then distributed digitally later this Spring.

When: Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 8-9:30 p.m.

Where: Emerson Suites on Ithaca College’s Campus (953 Danby Rd. Ithaca, NY 14850). As seating is limited, we ask everyone interested in coming to the event to please RSVP here: RSVP Link

Why: Athletes drill physical skills from an early age but neglect the mental skills that would benefit them in school, sports, and in life. Mental health discussions have become more mainstream in athletics, but most fail to provide athletes with actionable insights that they can apply to their own lives going forward. The speakers assembled for this event have “walked the walk” and are now ready to share their strategies for excelling in sports and beyond. Each speaker presents a different approach to how they optimize their mental space. At the end of the event, attendees will leave with strategies to improve in academics, athletics, and life.

Visual Elements: The event will commence with a quick series of clips of Ithaca College student athletes discussing prevalent topics in their lives. The speakers will then share their experiences with how these topics surrounding mental health and performance impacted them in college and how they dealt with them. Following the conclusion of the event, there will be thirty minutes allocated to a Q&A session with the speakers and moderator.
